Don’t let your fear of the dentist prevent you from seeking the treatment you need. By avoiding going to the dentist, small problems can lead to bigger (and more expensive) ones. At our office, we offer two types of anxiety relieving methods to help you relax while the dentist works on you. These two methods are:
Nitrous oxide (more commonly known as laughing gas) is a safe, reliable way to help nervous patients relax. Just by breathing in the gas for a few minutes is enough to induce the relaxation state. Most people experience an initial feeling of light-headedness that gradually leads to an all-over feeling of warmth. Once the laughing gas is stopped, you return to normal almost immediately.
Halcion is a prescription medicine that is used when a deeper level of sedation is needed. Normally, you take the pill one hour before your dental appointment to ensure that the medicine is in full effect during the treatment. You will need someone to drive you to and from the appointment.
